Gaynor Walsh is an experienced lawyer who has specialised in family work for over 25 years. Gaynor became involved in mediation in 1994 and set up the first ‘In House” Family Mediation Service in South Wales. Gaynor was included in the 1,000 List of Influencial People to Change the Face of Wales in 2002 for her work in raising the profile of family mediation.

Gaynor is an experienced trainer having provided training for the Legal Service Commission, FMA, UK College of Mediators and Law Society. Gaynor supervises several mediation services both in the UK and in the Channel Isles. She is also a commercial mediator, and collaborative lawyer and is trained to directly consult with children. In addition to her training and supervisory role, Gaynor runs Family Matters taking part in mediation in the twenty outreach offices, as well as high asset mediations outside the UK.

Annette Davies
Annette DaviesFamily Matters Mediator
Annette Davies is a Family Mediator having qualified with the Family Mediators Association in 2000. Before becoming a mediator Annette worked for many years in the field of education, specialising in helping teenagers with emotional, behaviour and learning difficulties in mainstream schools.

Annette has worked for Family Matters since 2004 and has also worked as a trainer on Mediator Foundation Training courses in London, Bristol and Guernsey and is a Private Practice Supervisor Consultant. Annette also is qualified to directly consult with children.

Lucy Walters
Lucy WaltersFamily Matters Mediator
Lucy Walters is a Family Mediator qualified with the Family Mediators Association. Lucy obtained a 2:1 honours degree in Law from the University of Liverpool and later went on to study a legal practice course at Swansea University.

Lucy has worked as a mediator for Family Matters for several years and works out of all of Family Matters outreach offices. Lucy has obtained recognition with the Legal Service Commission and works with both privately paying and legally aided clients. Lucy also is qualified to directly consult with children

Elaine Adlams
Elaine AdlamsFamily Matters Mediator
Elaine Adlam joined Family Matters over a year ago after qualifying as a Family Mediator with the Family Mediators Association. Elaine has previously worked as a Community Mediator with Bristol Mediation and trained as a Therapeutic Counsellor with the University of Bristol.

Before becoming a Mediator Elaine’s career was rooted in the commercial world, with many years experience in complex and high-value negotiations.

Ray Singh
Ray SinghFamily Matters Mediator
Ray Singh, was the first ethnic minority judge on the Welsh bench. He was appointed as a Deputy District Judge in 1992, and in 1997 became the Resident District Judge of the Merthyr Court. He is a former Commissioner of the Commission for Racial Equality. Ray took his wig off and trained as a family mediator, joining Family Matter’s team as a mediator.

Ray undertakes MIAM’s meetings and private mediations both on a sole basis and on a co-basis. Ray works out of all outreach offices.

Lucy Sears

Lucy Sears is a family mediator qualified with the National Family Mediation. Lucy obtained an honors degree in law from the University of Glamorgan.

Lucy has obtained recognition with the Legal Service Commission and works with both privately paying and legally aided clients.

Emma Griffiths
Emma GriffithsFamily Matters Mediator
Emma Griffiths is a family mediator, qualified with the Family Mediators Association. Emma obtained a 2.1 honors degree in law from University of Glamorgan.

Emma undertakes mediation information meetings and is currently working towards obtaining her Legal Service Commission Recognition.

Rachel Challenger

Rachel Challenger is a Family Mediator qualified with the National Family Mediation. Rachel obtained a joint honors degree in Law and Criminology from Swansea University.

Rachel has obtained recognition with the Legal Service Commission and works with both privately paying and legally aided clients..

Rhian Thomas
Rhian ThomasFamily Matters Mediator

Rhian Thomas is a Family Mediator qualified with the National Family Mediation. Rhian obtained a Law Degree from the University of Manchester.

Rhian has obtained recognition with the Legal Service Commission and works with both privately paying and legally aided clients.

All administrations staff are based in the main office at Merthyr Tydfil and have excellent experience and are able to deal with any enquiries. Family Matters employees have a thorough working knowledge of the mediation process and are committed to Family Mediation and to assisting clients who find themselves in difficult or vulnerable positions.  Our mission statement is that we aim ‘to assist every client who contacts us,if we are not able to assist, we will sign post them to a service that may be able to assist them.’
